Full Description

Spending two nights in the Merzouga Sahara Desert is another unforgettable experience for travelers to Morocco, and this four-day itinerary allows you to discover more of the Sahara. Visit UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou, the Valley of the Roses, and Tinghir; spend the first night in traditional Berber communities in the Todra Gorge; and spend the last two nights on a camel journey over Morocco’s highest dunes, the Erg Chebbi, sleeping beneath the stars in a Berber tent.

Day 1

Marrakech– Tizi-N-Tichka – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Gorges

Our team will pick you up from your hotel in Marrakech at about 7:30 a.m. and accompany you to the departure site, which is located in the main square, Jamaa El Fna.

The journey begins with climbing the High Atlas mountains and Col Tichka at 2260m, followed by a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, lunch in Ouarzazate, and a journey through Skoura oasis, Kalaat M’gouna, and the Valley of Roses to the Dadès Valley.

Stay the night in your private room at the standard hotel in Dadès with half-board (dinner and breakfast included).

Day 2

Dades Gorges – Tenghir – Todra Gorges – Tinjdad – Erfoud – Merzouga

Leave the gorges of Dades for Erg Chebbi, the entry point to the Sahara desert, after breakfast at your accommodation. Get a sense of the Saharan terrain by traveling via Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud and seeing the Berber communities strewn along the route. Visit the Tafilalet oasis before arriving at Merzouga. Take a little break to unwind at Merzouga. As the sun sets, we ride camels for around 1 hour and 30 minutes across the sand dunes to reach your private tent at the traditional nomadic Berber camp. Listen to the camp drums in the heart of the Sahara desert while taking in the eternal view of the sand dunes and surrounding environment.

Capture a stunning sunset from the top of a massive dune with your camera. After that, head to the camp to spend the night relaxing by the bonfire, dancing to Berber music, and stargazing till you go to sleep (dinner and breakfast included)

Day 3

Erg Cheebi dunes – Merzouga Auberge – Erg Cheebi dunes

Wake up early to catch the sunrise over the dunes.

Ride your camel back to Merzouga for breakfast at the Auberge. You will have time to refuel your tummy with a yummy breakfast and refresh your body with a shower (optional).

It will be your day to experience living in the Sahara in a nomadic style.

Lunch may be bought at the Merzouga Auberge for an additional charge.

In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to repeat your experience by climbing on the back of a camel for another 1 hour and 30 minutes, enjoying the sunset, and crossing the sand dunes on your way to your private tent in the Berber camp. Listening to the drums in the Sahara desert allows you to see the sand dunes and desert surroundings in a timeless way.

Take shots of a stunning sunset from atop a high dune. Then, go camping for your final night of the vacation, and spend the second night in a nomad camp with a campfire and berber music entertainment, relaxing beneath the stars before falling asleep (dinner and breakfast are included).

Day 4

Merzouga – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

Watch the sun come up over the dunes as you get up early in the morning. Return to Merzouga on your camel and stop at the Auberge for breakfast.

After grabbing the remaining bags, start your return trip to Marrakech via Ouarzazate. You can have lunch at a restaurant along the way, and you should arrive in Marrakech in the evening at approximately 20:00.
